Phoenix Overhead Doors | "Guaranteed to Rise" | Free Estimates | Commercial & Residential
Phoenix Overhead Doors started in late 2019 right before the Covid 19 pandemic swept through our country. Michael experienced a lay off from the Garage Door company that he was working with for years to support our expanding family. We would come to find out that pandemic instilled a massive panic in business owners that led to not only him being let go from his positions but to overwhelming rates of unemployment in America. Michael and his family knew they were not alone in the feeling the impact from Covid 19.
Michaels wife Rachel had been let go of her longtime position as a counselor in a local mental health organization that was like "her second home". The couple had just recently had their first child in early 2018. Rachel decided that being let go from her job was "God doing for her what she couldn't do for herself, giving her the opportunity to stay home with the baby like her heart so desired. Their beloved sons name would later become the inspiration for their family business-Phoenix Greenwell.
His name represented the full transformation and spiritual growth that the couple experienced after having lived through many trials and tribulations throughout their lives. This deep and personal meaning was perfect for the small family business that would continue to rise throughout one of the most turbulent times in American history.
Rachel had been very interested in self help books about stories about people who succeed. She read daily about those like Steve Jobs and Tony Robbins collecting information about success mindset as she came from an entrepreneurial minded family and had many goals and dreams. So, the day that Michael came home to inform Rachel he had lost he job she immediately proclaimed "It's time!".
Michael had came home after work many nights discussing his daydreaming of starting his own garage door company. He had a deep desire to be able to create a business using his experience and immaculate skillset that he had acquired over many years but with one exception. "I could build a business doing exactly what I do now, but while holding onto my morals and values" was a common statement Michael would make while discussing his dream with his wife.
The company greed and manipulative sales tactics that were taught and Michael was expected to use created internal conflict and guilt that made it difficult for him to go to work each day. So, when that pivitol moment came where he was fired, Rachel told him the same thing she told herself when she was fired, "It's a divine opportunity". It was the moment of pressure & choice that all successful people of the past said they were faced with in their stories.
Together, Michael and Rachel made a choice that seemed absolutely insane on paper but would change the course of their lives forever. "Let's go buy a truck! Right now!" was Rachel's suggestion. "That's crazy! Who goes out and buys a truck the day they get fired?" was Michaels rebuttal. They got on the same page and said yes to the universal "greenlight" that was being presented. As crazy as it felt...that's exactly what they did.
They invested in themselves, their dreams, and their future. They purchased a truck. They build a website, a Google Business page, etc. They bough business phone and started telling everyone they knew to spread the word of their new venture. And almost overnight, the phone rang for the first time. A memory that they will never forget. The fear and excitement of landing their first job as Phoenix Overhead Doors!
However, like I mentioned earlier, despite the excitement of starting a new business Phoenix Overhead was a roller coaster ride of emotions. Phoenix Overhead Doors opened too late to qualify for PPP loans or any other type of business aide offered during the pandemic. The family had to "white knuckle" in order to continue. They strived for success against all odds through faith and by the grace of God.
The young couple had made it through tough things in the past and made a deep commitment to make it through "this tough thing" as well. They refused to give up on their family, their business, or their future.
Now, all these years later. They are still here serving their communities, continuing to grow, and doing it with those same timeless values that created the dream in the first place. They've created an ethical business model that stands by a code of simple old fashioned principals like "treat other people the way you want to be treated", "Do the right thing even when no one is looking", "If someone needs the help....help them", "Be open, honest, and upfront", "Do work you'll be proud of", "If you mess something up, fix it", "Stay humble and grateful".
Phoenix Overhead Doors is honored to serve and happy to earn your business.
